This approx 250 ft long custom-designed and hand-painted mural is a collaboration by artists Phil "Sike Style" Shafer and JT Daniels. Blending their different illustration styles creates a dynamic storytelling moment for the community and visitors of the 18th & Vine District.
The mural was privately commissioned to enliven the public space located behind 2000 Vine properties. Located on the Paseo Bridge retaining wall, this artwork brings color, vibrancy, and storytelling to a wall that was previously vandalized and in disrepair.
With all the community improvements happening in the 18th & Vine corridor, this mural is an homage to the history of music and legacy of performances, ranging from African drummers to local marching bands to DJs, MCs, musicians, and Mardi Gras parade participants. The colors, patterns, and imagery pay tribute to the past, present, and future.
In addition to the mural enhancements, the green space behind Vine Street Brewing will host family-friendly live music and activations during the World Cup.
